Employers are looking for professional guidance from their insurance agents/brokers about Employee Leave Management. The purpose of this session is to provide group insurance agents/brokers with education relating to several key pieces of legislation relating to Absence Management; namely the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and the Americans with Disabilities and Amendments Act (ADAAA). With a greater working knowledge of this complex topic, brokers may address client concerns regarding workplace productivity, their focus on job accommodations and assisting disabled employees in staying at or returning to work while remaining complaint.
 

Who is this program for?

Licensed, beginning- to advanced- level Life/Health Insurance Agents (a.k.a. Brokers, Producers, Consultants, Agents, etc.), Marketers and Account Managers (collectively referred to herein as Agents), who seek a greater understanding of the complexities of the employee Absence and/or Leave Management and how it relates to field of Employee Benefits.
 
 
Upon completion of this program, the student will have a greater understanding of Employee Absence Management programs and be able to consult with their clients on numerous employee leave programs as well as on the integration of the legally required programs with the employer’s own in-house policies.
 
Upon completion of this program, students will have been taught to:
  • Advise clients on the basics and complying with ADA
  • Help an employer understand how disability insurance contracts, state paid medical/family leave and employers own leave programs are impacted by and can assist in perfecting ADA compliance
  • Explain employer and disabled employee responsibilities
  • Advise clients on the basics and complying with the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), state leave laws and employer leave policies.
  • Explain the options in the administration, coordination and integration of FML, employer disability and leave plans, paid medical and family leave and state leaves.
  • Advise clients on the basics and complying with statutory Paid Medical and Family Leave, where it applies, size requirements, cost and administration requirements.
  • Help an employer understand how insurance contracts and leave programs interact with statutory Paid Medical and Family Leave 
  • Explain employer and employee responsibilities for the difference statutory Paid Medical and Family Leave programs

Hartford School of Insurance virtual training programs are live, instructor-led courses that are delivered through an online/virtual format via the Internet and telephone. These courses provide comprehensive and interactive instruction while encouraging participation and engagement. The program incorporates activities, application sharing and an online chat feature to connect with the instructor and other students. Participation in the one-day virtual phase is a full day commitment and require students to give 100% of their daily focus and time for the duration of the program.
 
Students must attend both daily sessions:
Daily Morning Session: 11:00am - 1:00pm ET; 10:00 - 12:00pm CT; 8:00 - 10:00am PT
 
Daily Afternoon Session: 2:30 - 4:30pm ET; 1:30 - 3:30pm CT; 11:30am - 1:30pm PT

If your primary work location is in Connecticut, Hawaii, New Mexico, South Dakota or West Virginia you are required to pay state tax on non-continuing education courses.

  • No refunds will be issued for cancellations received less than 30 days prior to the start of the program.
